About ThoughtOS

The editorial home for CPQ, AI CPQ, and CPQ reasoning

Strategic essays on configure-price-quote: how to think about it, how AI changes it, and how to build revenue architecture that lasts.

Why ThoughtOS exists

CPQ (configure, price, quote) sits at the center of how complex products get sold, yet most writing about it is vendor marketing. ThoughtOS publishes first-principles essays instead: how CPQ reasoning actually works, where AI CPQ genuinely changes the economics of quoting, and what it takes to design pricing and configuration systems that survive real enterprise environments.

We write for the architects of revenue: product leaders, sales engineers, and operators who need CPQ strategy they can act on, not feature comparisons.

Magnus Fasth

CPO and Principal CPQ consultant at sailsrep.ai

Working with CPQ since 2000, primarily Tacton CPQ, at Tacton Systems and in customer projects. Today I work at sailsrep.ai and work hands-on with teams that sell complex products. I also lead the product strategy at sailsrep.ai, a product initiative focused on making quoting faster, safer, and easier to maintain.

How we work

Our story

ThoughtOS started from a simple frustration: the people making million-euro CPQ decisions had nowhere to read honest, experienced thinking about configure-price-quote. So we built it: a publication where CPQ strategy, AI CPQ, and CPQ reasoning get the same editorial seriousness as any other discipline of software architecture.

We focus on first principles, system design, and hard-won lessons from real enterprise environments: composable architectures for omnichannel sales, CPQ data as a strategic asset, integrations that survive growth, and AI applied where it creates measurable leverage.
